Foster a Podenco for Hope for Podencos

If you can't afford to adopt but have room for a podenco in your home, why not consider fostering.

Hope for Podencos have some which are available for foster till they find their forever homes.

On our recent trip to Spain, we forged a partnership with the wonderful SOS Animales Salobrena and have taken a number of podencos in their care under our wing as HFP dogs. Sadly, our new partners have been met with several sets of tragic circumstances including the death of one of their founders, a situation very close to our own hearts, and need to drastically reduce the number of dogs in their care in order to be able to continue their fight.

The NAC Platform (No To Hunting) fights hunting in all its modalities and has an immediate goal to end dog hunting. For this reason, since 2010 we have organized a demonstration every February that has reached an international scale.

In addition, we conduct and collaborate on all kinds of events aimed at raising citizens awareness about animal exploitation and abuse in its broader sense. We are a non-profit apartheid, non-profit anti-species association.

3 rescued podencos - donations needed for transport to shelter

These 3 podencos have been rescued and transport is arranged to take them to a shelter.

'UPDATE: We have an asso who will take care of them but we have to pay the transporter: €130 for all 3 dogs. Once again, we need your help.Update, so far 80 euros has been donated so we need 50 euros more.

Three stooges - all puppies. What can we say? Their looks don't scream at us. Fear, panic, despair... We can take them out, break the chains that torture them. We are looking for an asso to offer them this waiting family and godmothers to help with their rescue.

A hunting dog's life is far from ideal. Despite the heroic image some associate with them, these animals often face a reality full of deprivation, danger and suffering. At the end of their "useful life," many hunting dogs are abandoned, sacrificed, or sold to other hunters, perpetuating a cycle of suffering.

Sadly and with great powerlessness we see it daily.

It is time to recognize that these animals are sentient beings who deserve dignity and respect. We need to keep fighting to demand laws that protect them and raise awareness in society about the cruelty of hunting.

Still our sweet VERO hasn't received any requests.. maybe it's because she's already 9 years old, or because they say black dogs are less successful.

One thing is sure, it's not by her character, because she's very sociable and loving.

After 9 years exploited for reproduction and saved from hell by the authorities, now waiting for a happy ending where she would know the warmth of a home.

Volunteering for the dogs in the San Bartolome shelter in Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Being a volunteer is not just going up to the kennel for a walk, being a volunteer is a mission and a path that hooks you, although unintentionally, on these very special beings. Because when you become a volunteer your life changes, part of your free time is dedicated to them, your thoughts and your desires to see them outside of a cage become constant and above all you become attached, because they are part of your life now, they are your family. Yes, you go up every day, you can to give them a little love so that they feel special because they are and your voice will be theirs to give them strength and hope that one day they will feel the true essence of freedom and a loving home.

We walk the dogs every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9-1300.

A sad twilight for this old boy in Ourense

Another story of which TEAR your heart and even the soul, this is the grandfather RIQUI, he is 10 years old and looks like he is 15, he is almost blind and deaf. "He lives" in a yard where there are three hundred dogs at his age, how is it possible!! He is very good with everyone, he does NOT have much left, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE a family.

Riqui came to protection in 2019. He had been tied up his whole life, and one day they decided to let him go and he ran away. He crossed the street, and got hit by a car. They picked it up and with fractures in the back legs, of which it has consequences - it limps and has little strength. He has never been caressed, he had never been loose. He's about 10 years old now, but looks so much older. He spent the last few months in the prote hospital, but now he's back in a yard, where he's stressed, and he's almost deaf and almost blind, so he's not handled well at all... He's a very sweet but special hound.

This is Wanda a 1 year old Border Collie Mix. Wanda is not doing well at the shelter she is blind and her ear is reduced so so many smells and so many changes she is not doing well. She is an affectionate dog and generally with good introductions gets along well with dogs especially medium and large.
