This tiny podenco was thrown over a fence, he's skeletal. In Cordoba Andalusia. Anyone who can help this young male? I've suggested they contact Asociacion Segunda Oportunidad which is in Cordoba.

This is an article written by Ed Verhaegan published in Laverdad, an Alicante newspaper, in 2010. Sadly 14 years on the situation hasn't changed and currently there are protests about municipal perreras being handed over to a private company which has a bad reputation for its treatment of dogs from the day they arrive.

Valencia, FEDENVA wants to change the law on stray animals, adaptation of the law implies that the collection and housing of stray and abandoned animals by private commercial hands, to earn this money. This means mass slaughter of stray animals in which starved will come to an end because the only purpose of these commercial companies make money. It will be the animals provided with minimal care and they will want to get rid of the cheapest possible way of animals. Valencia-The Federation for Animal Valencia (FEDENVA) wants the collection and care of stray and abandoned animals to be managed by non-profit organizations and not "by commercial companies whose goal is to make money."

So sad, this lovely Podenco Campanero has been waiting for over 2 years for a forever home.
'ODDIE. IS IT TRUE THAT THEY DON'T LOVE ME BECAUSE I HAVE 3 LEGS? We can't believe that. That would be too cruel.
I was rescued over 2 years ago by Happy Footprints Association with a shot in my elbow that left me totally wounded.. tried with medication to cure me, but there was no way, and there was a high risk of endangering my health, so there was no choice but to amputate my leg. I don't mind having 3 legs at all, because I live a totally normal life, but it seems... because of this no one wants to adopt me.

Unlike galgos, the majority of Podencos are very active and intelligent dogs who require plenty of exercise and stimulation. I liken them to Border Collies. Besides agility, Canicross is a growing activity proving popular with pods adopters - mind you, you have to be fit too!! Here are a couple of videos about Canicross.

As a rescuer, this is one of our greatest fears. Many rescues, including Paws on Hearts Animal Rescue and Rehoming, work tirelessly to ensure their dogs are safe, even after rehoming. A common practice is to dual-register microchips in both the adopter’s name and the rescue’s name. In theory, this system ensures that both parties must be consulted before a rescue dog is euthanised.
But tragically, this safeguard failed Mr. Bones. He is not the first rescue dog to be euthanised without a rescue's knowledge or consent — and heartbreakingly, he won’t be the last unless change is made.

The update is that the kennels have received lots of food so now they really need help with erecting the new fencing, and then donations for beds, bedding, cleaning materials...

From SOS Podencos - at one point the water was waste deep.

Most of our dogs are out of the kennel and placed into temporary foster homes. The two remaining are inside the house that is in the kennel, and they will leave today.
There are still other dogs in the kennel that aren't ours, but it seems the legal owners don't want them to go into foster homes..
Now is the time to clean, fix and rebuild!
If you can come help, it will be appreciated.
Here is a video of the state of the kennel. It's full of mud and water. The fences are broken, ripped from the ground. All the dog food is gone. The dog beds are gone or broken.

Save My Life Benidorm have vans going out on Monday 4th November loaded with food, water, cleaning materials etc to shelters badly affected by the floods. This is the second van load. They have clearance from the Police to go.
