'Please help us spread the word about this. We are seeing more and more Sago Palm's for sale as house plants. We were very disappointed to see that the Sago Palm plants in some stores still have no warning label. These plants are very toxic to pets. It takes a very small dose to cause liver failure. Many dogs don't survive, even with treatment. We took the picture on the left at Home Depot (warning tag). Walmart in the US are also selling them and none of the Sago's at Walmart had warning tags. These have also been seen at Target and Ikea.
Familiarize yourself with its distinctive appearance, because often they are just called "palm plants" (technically they are not palms, but cycads) or not labeled at all.
Edited to ad: The seeds are the most toxic part of the plant, but these small versions usually are not big enough to produce seeds. However, the entire plant is toxic, so please be careful.'
The Azores belongs to Portugal. We know about the rehalas and maltreatment in Potugal, this has just surfaced!
'Desperate situation of Podencos in the Azores Islands - Protection of this ancient breed is an important protection of Portugal's cultural legacy.
Today's images of S. Miguel Island in the Azores. These are groups of starving podencos left behind like trash. If you drive along that green road you will find many more, desperate. A small group of very kind and dedicated rescuers try their best with little or no support from who should support them.
Could there be a more startling contrast with the beautiful Azores landscapes? Let us remind ourselves this is one of the oldest breeds in the world, undoubtedly part of Portuguese cultural heritage. Is this how these stately beautiful dogs end up?'
It’s necessary to separate new abandoned dogs from the ones who are already saved. It’s important for new arrivals to stay for 2 weeks in a separate place so they can recover and be vaccinated. We already raised an amount for all the materials for one kennel ( concrete, stones, cement, floor- and wall tiles, iron works, roof, .....). So all help to build the second one will be welcome .
This week GRA welcomed this beautiful Podenco Ibicenco. This beautiful big boy is only 9 months young, he’s is used to living with a small dog and a cat. Unfortunately due to a change of circumstances he could not stay with his family and GRA was asked to find him a new home.
If you're considering giving him a new home, you should know he's a young dog, so he still needs a strict education.' Contact Sandy direct.
'is Lolita she was known as the Moraira Carpark dog. She was notoriously difficult to capture and even with sausages that contained a sedative she still eluded everyone. She was eventually rescued and brought to Akira. She has gradually been building up her confidence and volunteers and staff spending time with her.
Lolita is now ready for a home she gets excited to go out for walks and enjoys being petted so he really needs a home to call her own.
She is vaccinated, chipped and has a passport so if you think you could open your heart to this girl to let her enjoy the life she always dreamed of then please contact us today. You can call +34 657 689 567 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info about Lolita and the adoption process'
'I have attached some pictures of Ellie. She is in Foster and they have decided they are not in a position to adopt so she is looking for her Forever Home. She loves to swim and play and is friendly to all people. She is good with dogs and there is another dog living with her at her current foster home.
Her d.o.b is 09.01.2019. She is spayed and fully vaccinated with passport. She has tested positive for leish but inactive she just takes the daily allopurinol tablet to control.
Thanks so much
