Too much overbreeding by galgueros andd too much abandonment of their dogs. The sad fate of Podencos. Once the Invisibles of Spain but now hundreds adopted in Europe, the US and Canada.
This is the sad tale of one podenco who has ended up in a perrera.
ADOPTING IS AN ACT OF LOVE AND GENEROSITY
"I spent the whole night dreaming
I have your image etched in my bones
I want to and I can't help it" Travis Birds
I have your image engraved in my bones and my soul."
Adopting is an act of love and generosity. To adopt is not a right, not a duty, not an obligation, not a longing. ADOPTING is to go into the bowels of the world of abandonment and abuse and to give a chance at a dignified life, to protect a being who has suffered either of those two situations or both at a time.
Adoption should be an act as a result of a clear reflection on what it means to suffer innocent beings who committed no other crime in life than to be born in the wrong place, with the wrong people.
You don't ADOPT to get out of various personal situations, nor depressions, nor breakups, nor loneliness, nor various longings.
You don't ADOPT to feel rewarded by the bad so-called "thank you" of the adopted, You don't adopt to be the center of the adopted universe, You DON'T ADOPT to protect a home, You DON't adopt to save money "I would never pay for a dog", You DON'T adopt to feel wonderful and good.
No, adoption is an act of love and generosity and something so beautiful can never be disturbed, it is not ADOPTED like who goes to a cattle market, looking for the prettiest, the smallest, the biggest, the purest, the smartest, adopting is an act of Love and generosity, is an act of defending and protecting the weakest and most needy.
When the miracle of adoption happens, there are tons of love, there is generosity. You choose to help the needy, invalid, in that very moment you are not important, neither you nor your life.
You've decided to try to remedy all the harm caused by third parties. It is your duty to care for, love, protect and cover all physical and mental needs of the adopted.
Once you internalize all this the inherent nature of our wonderful animals and without asking it will answer you with a bond of love as deep as you have ever imagined.
