From Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends
Peque's Journey to a New Lifeđź©·
Last week Peque landed in Chicago, ready to begin an incredible new chapter. This moment has been months in the making, and his story is nothing short of inspiring.
Peque was rescued by Galgos Felices Fundacion six months before I shared his adoption post on November 23, 2024. Up until then, he hadn’t sparked much interest. But that day, a message changed everything.
It was from my dear friend and long-time supporter of Podenco Friends, Tracy Eyre. Tracy first reached out to me in January 2014, asking for advice about Elektra, her recently adopted podenco, who was testing her patience with her naughty antics. That initial connection blossomed into a wonderful friendship. Over the years, we’ve shared updates, life stories, and mutual support.
In November 2018, Tracy’s partner, Joe Hannabach even visited the finca he so wanted to meet Arion, who we recently rescued ..
At that moment it wasn’t the right time for them to adopt.
But the stars must have come into alignment when I posted Peque’s adoption appeal. Tracy saw him and instantly knew—he was the one.
This was a first for Pepa Motilla of Galgos Felices—sending a rescue to America. It was a leap of faith for her, but she embraced it wholeheartedly. There were moments of stress as we worked through the maze of import/export certificates, but Pepa and her teams dedication paid off. They personally drove Peque to Madrid airport to send him on his way to his new life.
A huge thank you goes to Tracey McLaurin who stepped up for Peque and brought him under the care of Senior Sighthound Sanctuary securing his spot on today’s flight..
Peque, you’re about to experience a life full of love, joy, and care with Tracy and Joe. You’ve truly landed on all four paws!
To Pepa and the incredible team at Galgos Felices—this is just the beginning. Thank you for putting your trust in me we have opened new doors, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Here’s to a brighter future for Peque and all the podencos waiting for their forever homes!
Thank you to everyone who made this possible
