Paul the Podenco

Gorgeous Paul was born 13.01.21 He is typical of the podenco breed. Very clever and so elegant. He shares his kennel with 5 other dogs of similar size. He gets on with male and females without issues.

​Paul would like someone who won't leave him for long periods and a garden where he can explore. He likes being a sun king.

​He loves car rides, is gentle on his lead and a pleasure to walk. He can be rehomed with older children and families with other dogs.

​He is neutered, blood tests all clear. He has his own passport and is ready to travel.

Free Spanish Hounds campaign march

The first of February marks the end of the Spanish hunting season. Dogs that ‘didn’t make the cut’ are brutally discarded.

On the first weekend of February, animal lovers gather across Spain and in other European cities, to protest about the treatment of the dogs and call for a ban on the hunt with dogs.

Still can not get online

This is why we are still offline at home : Car burst into flames after brake failure

Apparently the heat melted some of the BT equipment and 2 weeks on they are waiting for replacement parts.

BT tell us it could be another week before we are back online at home. Thank goodness we have the computers in our local library!

How long should a dog go without peeing?

We were lucky when living on the farm in France as our dogs had direct access to a big barn with an earth floor. So we could go out for the day and not worry about them, as they used the barn if they wanted to pee.

Back in England now, our current 2 hounds are both 10, so company for each other when we want to go out and not take them. We can usually leave them 5-6 hours, which is good considering Bo drinks a lot of water. We do put newspaper down in the kitchen just in case!

GPS trackers for dogs

I recently met a podenco owner who has fitted a tracker to her dog's collar and she can check on her smartphone where her hound has got to. This particular pod does like to explore the sand dunes near their home, so the tracker is very useful. The dog also has good recall.

Podenco Xarnego Max looking for his forever home

This sweet small podenco is looking for his forever home, he's been waiting a year already - a year of his puppyhood in kennels.

The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned…

A home is all Max wants. He’s been with our lovely transporter Roberto for almost six months now, and although he is safe & loved, it saddens us that all he’s known is being chained to a wall by the hunter he was saved from and then life in kennels. He is now around a year old, his whole puppyhood he’s never known what it is to have a family and home.

We are looking for a FOSTER or FOREVER HOME for Max - he’s spent enough time in kennels.

Max is an affectionate, friendly little boy with a side serving of shyness. He gets on well with all other dogs, and loves to have a play in the secure areas at Robertos place. He’s a gorgeous medium sized pod with a beautiful fluffy coat which makes us think he has some Xarnego in him.

Max is vaccinated, chipped, passported & free of all Mediterranean diseases.

Bayer, a 10-year-old senior, 15 kg. who still has a lot of gear and loves to play with his mates.
NO ADOPTION FEE.

Leena, a 3-year-old Podenca, 13 kg. she is calm and independent she gets along well with other dogs.

ZIZOU a 4-year-old cutie and weighs 11,400 kg. It is very noble and calm, he gets along with males and females.

All have belonged to a hunter, treated as mere hunting instruments for their purposes, they only knew their screams and bad manners, lived terrified. They were abandoned to their luck as if they were garbage and we rescued them from the kennel of Lucena and Cordoba to give them a new life that we have not yet gotten.

2023, a year of ups & downs, joy & sadness, but also a year in which new collaborations were established.
Never before have so many abandoned, neglected and abused souls found their way to our Rescue center. Unfortunately, never before have so many animals been abandoned and dumped either....

If there is any improvement in people’s awareness animals are living beings and not products, we still notice little or nothing of it.

On the contrary, it seems to be getting worse....
