Galgo's Rescue Almeria on 4th December, we've named her Honey.
This precious little girl came into our care yesterday.
Honey is estimated to be 5 years old, the least we can say is that she will undoubtedly have had a very tough and difficult life until now.
It’s actually a miracle that she’s still alive, God knows what she has been through and endured.
This precious girl is supported by Helping Animals Almanzora.
Honey’s story.
She was kindly rescued from the road looking lost two weeks ago. Her rescuer took her to the Vet to check for a microchip which she doesn’t have. Poor girl was missing an eye and the socket was infected, she’s also missing her front top teeth. Honey didn’t look in the best condition and was presenting with signs of Leishmania. Obviously she also has had multiple litters previously.
Once in Helping Animals Almanzora’s care they did full bloods which confirmed she was positive for Ehrlichia and Leishmaniasis.
A scan showed Honey was also yet again in the early stages of pregnancy. Now she's come into our care.
She has had her empty eye cleaned out and closed to prevent further infection, at the same time she was also spayed. Meanwhile, she has started her 28 day course of Doxiciclina to treat the Erhlicia and Alopurinol for the Leish. Now she’s recovered from surgery so we will start her treatment for Leishmania ( Milteforan, Leishguard, Allopurinol). We will start her course of treatment for Leish shortly once recovered from her surgery.
Many thanks HAA for all help / support and also a BIG thanks to Wendy for stopping and picking her up. No doubt many had already seen her but offered no help and left her to her own devices.
