Torrox is on the Costa del Sol but not a place the tourists tend to visit, as it has apartment blocks rather than big hotels. But like most of the rest of Spain it too suffers from too much animal abandonment and that's where the Tail Torrox shelter comes in. Founded in 2008, they currently have plenty of podencos hoping for forever homes, on this page you can read all about them.
This tiny is Mona. Mona came in with her puppies. She is estimated to be born 14.2.2018 and weighs 8.6kg and 40cm in height. She is typical of the breed, shy but sweet and timid with strangers. She plays well with a mixed group of dogs. She has tested positive for leishmaniosis. If you are interested in offering a forever home, email [email protected] about her.
Leishmania does not have to be a problem. This weblink takes you to the story of Livia, 'Living with Leishmania', who also features in my book From Pyramid to Perrera. There are many vets around the world now who are aware of this disease and the treatment.
