One woman, Nina Torres, reckons it's fine for most adult dogs to be in a crate “nine hours maximum” during the day (with a walk in the middle), and then eight hours at night.
I cannot believe anyone would condone incarcerating a dog for most of the 24 hours of its life!! I'm with PETA!

Another simply stunning podenca with Refugio Kimba in Chiclana, Cadiz.
Asia is looking for a home, we rescued her in the middle of nowhere, alone and very thin, but she immediately trusted us.
While at the shelter she had to be urgently taken to the vet, as she came in contact with a processionary caterpillar and inflated like a balloon, it was a difficult few days for her and for Petra, her foster home, but she slowly recovered.
We were always watching her paw, since sometimes she limped, but we decided to monitor it. She has finally been operated on and had to remove one finger, she is living completely normal, the pain is gone and she is an even happier character.
She is 3 years old and 19 kilos, despite being a hibiscus podenco, she is not very big. She is very good with children, other dogs and people, loving, intelligent, obedient and has a great personality.

A vestibular problem is more likely to manifest itself in older dogs. If you notice your dog's behaviour changing - balance, head tilting - then this could be a possibility.

I lost my little 7.5kg Podenca Andaluz Bebe in August 2021 at 18 years old. She was the cutest little hound with the biggest character! I really miss her. Here's just another cute little podenco looking for his forever home. I'm tempted but can't take on any more dogs now, only room for our 2 in our small bungalow.

She was hard to catch and she is still very shy and has fears. She needs a family that understands and knows how to educate and slowly take away her fears with love and patience. She tends to hide and want to escape..

My timid little Podenca Andaluz Rosely is slowly gaining confidence and coming out of her shell. Last weekend we attended our first dog show - organised by Wisbech Galgo and Rescue Association who do marvellous work fostering and homing rescued galgos and podencos in the local area.
I spent quite a lot of time walking Rosely (Rosie) round the showground, getting her used to the sights and sounds, and meeting other dogs. I'd like to have put her in Prettiest Bitch but doubted whether she is yet confident enough to show herself off well. But Rescue from Abroad class sounded just the thing. So in she went along with some galgos, another podenco, and a couple of Rumanian rescues. She wouldn't let the male Judge approach close, I told him she was afraid of men, but we were thrilled to bits when she was chosen for first prize.
So here's Rosie with a shield, red rosette, box of Winalot meat in jelly - her favourite - 2 packets of special croquettes and a feed bowl. Didn't she do well! So proud of her.
