Farewell to Podenca Bebe - the last one standing

After losing my galgo Polar in April, galgo Bracken a just over a week ago, I had to take little Bebe to the vet on Saturday...her body just gave up on her. She was the last of my Spanish rescue hounds...but she had a good life with us.

Bebe, 7.5kg Podenca Andaluz, was injured on a Seville road back in 2008. Early days for my Podenco Post blog but a young Spanish volunteer with Refuge Sofia Escuela, Marisa, contacted me to publicise for a foster home for Bebe to convalesce after operation. She had named the Podenca Bebe. My daughter's name is Marisa and my nickname at school was Bebe, so of course the little Podenca had to come to me! Booked into my excellent French vet to repair her injury, from the state of her teeth Florence assessed her age as between 4-6 - her teeth were not in a good condition.

Podencos in Mogan - some happy ever after homes

Thanks to an amazing group of volunteers in Mogan, Gran Canaria, help was commenced to rescue 90 podencos trapped in cages in the mountains. PACMA became involved to support them and finally the podencos were rescued.

Calling Podenco People in the Dover (UK) area

Dear Podenco People!

Are there any pod families in the Dover area of Kent, UK?

Writing on behalf of this sweet newly adopted handsome fellow and his loving Mum who has recently moved to Dover and who would be glad to meet some fellow pod families to share tips and trips...maybe a regular joint walk. This little hound is very easy at home, good with people and other dogs and even on public transport, but has a high prey drive, so it would help his Mum to gain confidence to get out and about more if they had some partners in crime! And it would be more fun.

The more pods the merrier!

There are quite a lot of us poddie people up here on the north Kent coast, but are there any down south? Or are you in Dover and part of a really friendly dog (not specifically pod) meet up group? Or on your own with a dog and would love a walking mate.
