'Handed into a perrera 2 days before Christmas along with Pinto eight years old, her owner signed over which cancels the need to wait 21days before they can euthanise. Both are older podencos and often passed over for adoption, after all those years of loyal service this was is how they were repaid.

Blanca arrived at the finca on Christmas Eve very scared and I noticed her ankle was swollen and she was holding her leg up . So got her on some pain meds and anti-inflammatories and basically left them to rest. The swelling on her wrist went down but she was still lame. At her check up at our vets took x-rays and saw the reason why, her left elbow has very severe arthritis. This was not recent, it is a chronic condition and most likely from an old injury, she has suffered for a number of years. Her owner never put his hand in pocket to get her treated and their solution just dump her, no longer their problem.

Life of Hell for Podencos in Spain

It's impossible to imagine what had happened to this little podenca to make her so traumatized and terrified around humans. After patient rehabilitation she is now reserved for a special forever home.

MILKA continues to search for a home for her entire life. She is shy at first with people but immediately begins to trust and ask for pampering. She is very playful and sociable, with dogs and with people. With cats we don't know. Can you help us find a family for their whole life?

Podenca Maneto Thea for adoption - with Adopcion Perros Espana

'Thea is still in search of her ultimate family! How pretty she is! She is 7.5kg and 3 years old.

Thea was adopted a few months ago in Bilbao by a fantastic family who have another puppy and rabbits. When Thea arrived at her new home, she had already been cat tested and was compatible, and with the puppy in the house instantly connected. Inseparable.
She ignored the rabbits, and for months the coexistence was great. Her family couldn't be happier with her.

But suddenly, and without anyone understanding why, Thea attacked one of the rabbits and had to rush it to the vet. Luckily he was saved and was able to come home.

But Thea had changed and was only interested in hunting one of the rabbits.

Akira Animal Sanctuary - Podenco Sammy looking for a forever home

This stunning boy is Sammy with Akira Animal Sanctuary. This is what Hayley says about him.

'Sammy is just 2 years old and a very sociable dog. As you can see he gets along well with other dogs and currently staying with VIP DogHotel waiting for his new home. Sammy is excellent with children and would be a great family dogs.

Sammy will need a home without cats. He is easy to walk on the lead and is house trained. He is full of cuddles and love and quite active boy so will need stimulation so he doesn't get bored.
