From Sandy at Galgo's Rescue Almeria.
This is the story of a little podenco, named Estrella. Like most podencos she was born in a dirty and dark typical hunter environment. Being born as a podenco in Spain usually means a bleak future perspective, a hard, ruthless and merciless life. A “life” of hunger and thirst, of cold and deprivation. To survive and get some food, you have to be the best hunter to please your owner.
This fragile little girl was born with ataxia, it means part of the brain that control stability was not developed. Because of her instability she was useless.
Luckily Estrella was saved by Antonio at the age of 2 months. She’s a lucky girl, she can have the chance to grow up in a better world and have a future that many “normal”podencos can only dream of.
Today it’s D- day for Estrella. We are so grateful to Antonio Rodriguez Cañadas for rescuing Estrella just like her sister Lunita and giving them the chance for a different and better life.
Now both sisters are reunited in a wonderful place who’s specialised in animals with physical or mental disabilities. GRA wants to thanks Rata’s animal shelter ( Bart Ines De Rata's ) to give this girls a future they deserve.
We don’t forget to thanks Maite Avelino Vieira Camacho, Estrella’s foster mum, who took care of her for months. And there is more good news all the medical costs for Estrella been payed by one of our adopters Janneke. To all many many thanks to give these gorgeous little girls the chance to learn new thinks and to have a live with lots of LOVE.
