Further update on the podenco rescue in Mogan, Gran Canaria

The courts of Telde no 1 have taken over the investigation from Seprona against a resident of Aquimes who kept 84 Podencos on a finca held in poor sanitary and hygiene conditions and now they have been transferred to the pound Albergue insular Banaderos .

Along with local police and veterinaries Seprona agents made the decision to enter the finca even though the owner was not present who was later notified to come to the facilities . An inspection revealed of very poor conditions for the animals that endangered their physical integrity and confirmed by a medical report of the veterinarians on site

A total of 84 dogs were seized 78 adults and 6 puppies the majority with different diseases and condition

The owner of the animals is responsible for an alleged crime of mistreatment and animal abandonment typified in the penal code.

Today I have very good news to give you! After seven years, the Civil Guard has finally rescued those known as "90 podencos de Mogán".

I tell you how we have managed it so that you too can celebrate it with us and continue helping us save animals:

Since 2013, we have denounced the state in which 90 hounds were in an unclean construction in the Gran Canaria municipality of Mogán. For years, individuals, PACMA and protectors denounced it. In 2015 we did it again and managed to get the animals confiscated, but then the owner fled with the dogs. It was located some time later in Agüimes. There he crowded them again and again we denounced him.

We have not given up for years.

Keeping your dog's teeth healthy

My little podenca Bebe came with very bad teeth and now my aged galga Carmela is showing signs of teeth deterioration. Not surprising when they are 17 and 15 years respectively! I use dentastix when they have had their meals but here's an article with some other suggestions. It mentions raw bones - marrow bones. For decades we always gave our dogs marrow bones until some years ago my Swedish Valhund Pepsi broke a piece off and got it stuck in her throat. So no more marrow bones! Besides, I am sure the two male galgos would fight!
