I've been off-line for a few days, so just catching up with news. Violent storms have been raging in southern Spain for 3 or 4 days and Bev at Podenco Friends is suffering terribly with flooding. Below are her posts and videos about it. Luckily she is not on her own, coping, stalwart Dawn Richardson from the UK is there helping with everything.
Wednesday 11th September - Aemet has now declared code red for tomorrow (Thursday) in the region of Murcia and Alicante, they have even closed some schools. Today we had some heavy rain and last night spectacular lightning storms. Dawn and I managed to get all the dogs out for a couple of good runs in the paddocks but this evening after the rains they are off limits but have the car park for them to have some time out there. The finca normally stands up well to this weather but they are predicting very severe storms. We went out and did a big shop so stocked up for the dogs and and us and prepared the finca for possible flooding.
Storm cells are building up around us and the forecast is t will start in the early hours of the morning ... none of the dogs get stressed about the weather but we will check in with them through the night just to make sure they are ok. A long night ahead of us so glad Dawn is here.
Thursday 12th September - It’s been a long and miserable day, no let up on the rain and we have a mother of a thunder storm above us at the moment. Had to reshuffle the dogs around due to our smaller kennel block is taking in water.. managed to get the dogs out for a quick run in the car park tonight. Our internet is down and the company can't fix it due to the weathe. Electric is on and off .. tonight the forecast is more storms with heavy rain throughout the night. Not the best of days but everyone is ok.
Friday 13th September - Outside the finca these are fields and we can’t pass the road .. more storms fo the next 24 hours
