This is not the first time a Podenco has been advertised for free on Gumtree in the UK. It makes me blazing that these people don't understand that, if they can't keep a dog, they need to tell the rehoming/rescue association so they have a chance to sort the problem out. That is, if the dog was taken into the country through an association...looks like this poor boy wasn't and there is no backup for him. Grrrrrrr! Can anyone help?
I cannot take the dog on gumtree as I am waiting for my house to complete and have an elderly dog but I am staying in tyne and wear with my mum in law at present and could go and see this person if you needed me to and see what I can find out as county durham is not far from me

Do these idiots not realise that advertising an animal for free on Gumtree means that they could end up as bait dogs?. They send plausible people round and take the animal away to be ripped apart. So fed up of hearing about health problems, divorce etc. My Mum is 80 has health problems but copes fine with her dog. Get a dog walker. My friend just been through an awful divorce and had to move from France to UK, brougt her dog with her. Why are people so stupid. If you get a rescue dog then get one from a reputable rescue that provides back up. I guess there are sometimes genuine reasons but I would sell my house, car, jewellery before I ever gave up my animals. These people who advertise their unwanted pets on Gumtree disgust me. Could any of the established Spanish rescues help or could it be identified as to which shelter, rescue the dog has come from?

I have asked my friend Glynis Jones who also lives in the area to contact this lady and see if she can help get this podenco to safety. Please would you also do what you can....there are so many people on facebook who are concerned about him. Sad that this is not the first podenco advertised for free to a good home on Gumtree....too many of them taken to the UK without association backup. Please do what you can, Bev

If you adopt a dog from abroad association back up is essential. Beryl, please keep us updated about this dog. I hope the person who has advertised him gets to realise that what she has done is wrong. Hope he is taken to safety and to a proper responsible loving home before he falls into the wrong hands being used as a bait dog, used to hunt or passed around like a parcel from one unsuitable home to the next before 'disappearing'.

The ad has been taken down. Anyone know anything? Is the dog still with this person or hopefully, has the dog been taken to safety? Beryl, do you have any update, thanks

Billy Marley tried to make contact without success and she confirms the advert has disappeared, but we know no more. Fingers crossed he is safe and in his final home. Too many podencos arriving in the UK in the wrong homes and ending up advertised on Gumtree!
