From April Lamb. Dear Rescue Partners and Rescue Advocates,
Hound Sanctuary (USA) recently purchased, moved to, and retrofitted a much larger, more dog-friendly facility in order to have more room and more joy for more podencos, galgos, and others while we prepare them for and select their perfect forever homes. The sanctuary comprises a 5000 square foot building on about 2 acres of land that includes two very large yards, a medium sized yard, and a small yard, all with 6 foot tall, secured fencing.
Here are stories from Levriers sans Frontieres about 2 podencos, now safe with Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert in Seville, and who will eventually come to France for forever homes.
Here's the story of the first one, Bashira. After she was found at the roadside, throughout the journey to the shelter, she has not moved, not cried. she is so courageous and yet what she must suffer! She was rushed to the vet for urgent operation. Upon her arrival she was supported by Lillian, the veterinarian at the FBM, who took xrays. The legs are fractured, put in splints whilst waiting for an operation by the orthopedist. Under anaesthetic, her injuries have been disinfected and she was given antibiotic. This tiny podenca is barely a year old, what a terrible start to its life.
This beautiful little boy is Bruno, a young Podenco Maneto found abandoned. He's only 8-9 months old, certainly too young to be wandering the world on his own! The Maneto is a small type, similar to a dacshund in size, so suitable for smaller homes. He's in southern Spain near Chiclana. Please contact Karen Dunn about him. In the last week they have taken in 6 abandoned dogs, they are overrun, so let's find Bruno a forever home as soon as possible.

Animals are not owned by anyone, are our friends, and therefore do not have to be exclavizados to the hunt to kill other living beings.
In a "civilized" world as our supposed, as hunting sport should be prohibited but that over do it with the help of animals a lot more.
Hunters who take dogs, make them breed without control for luegocomerciar with the puppies, giving his "buddies" and selling online at second hand or in thousand anuncios.com. A true shame of sales in black. That the Government should control and does only so that autonomous working poor who pay as you can with your taxes.
Regular readers will know what an amazing couple Bev Farmer and Warren Beards of Podenco Friends, Murcia, Spain are in respect of their work with rescuing podencos, in the Murcia area of Spain. In my book 'From Heaven to Hell - The Story of the Podenco, Bev has written a chapter on Training a Podenco. With her rescue podencos, she works on recall and leaves the rest of the training to the adoptants. There are now several podencos in the UK in training for agility competitions and Bev is thrilled to report that there is a Podenco taking part in an Agility Team in Crufts Dog Show in March 2016.
So here's a video to introduce you to one of the stars of the team, Zarita. Get yourself comfy and sit back and enjoy the Ultimate Agility Podenco! Watch out, you Border Collies!
The title could also be: cruelty goes on and on and on...From Cadiz Scooby took this Podenco. He had just been found with the rope still round his neck. It is a miracle how he did survive with this deep wound at all but he did. He has been treated by the vet, and he is already living in Fermin´s pack with a big bandage around his
neck. He's been named Noel.
He has been promised a home where he will find love and protection forever. Could it be with you??
The work of the Scooby Medina refuge team is never-ending and unbelievable! Here's the story and video of the 50 dogs they brought back from Cadiz along with Noel, the hung podenco. Please help if you can volunteer workwise, or donate to feed all the dogs, and vet fees.
