Update on the 90 Mogan podencos

Nightmare in Mogan, Gran Canaria --- seeking podencos and justice for them!

You may remember I reported a situation in Mogan, Gran Canaria, where about 90 podencos were incarcerated in metal cages in a remote valley. Yesterday a team of volunteers and members of the municipality went to the site to take the dogs. They found the cages empty, frightened podencos roaming around the valley. Here's the story as posted on facebook. I've asked for a 'polite' letter in Spanish for us to send to the Mayor of Mogan to encourage him to search for the owner of the dogs and prosecute him. Will run the campaign when I receive it.

LOLA was rescued from the same owner as ANGELIQUE just over a week ago. She is getting more confident, putting weight on nicely and her skin is slowly improving. She is a lovely dog, really affectionate and she loves to be loved. She is 8 years old so quite calm for a Podenco Canario. She is also small for her breed, currently 16 kilos. She gets on well with other dogs and children and is really friendly. She will be looking for a great home soon so please let us know if you are interested.

She is a new breed that has been discovered on the island of Lanzarote this year - a Reindenco! They are bundles of pure sweetness. Does anyone have room for a Reindenco in there home? PLEASE SHARE, she is with TheKennelKlub.

No justice for these babies!

These three tiny podenco puppies have been dumped in the perrera...for killing. It's no place for puppies, unvaccinated, no chance against diseases rampant in the kennels. Sickening that the hunters care nothing for these tiny innocent souls, such a cavalier disregard to how precious every life is. Whoever took them there, turned their back and walked away is inhuman.

Update on Angelique, the blind podenca in Lanzarote

Update 10 12 2015

ANGELIQUE - thanks to Natalie she is getting more confident every day. Just 2 and a half weeks after her surgery, she is happily negotiating her way around using just her nose. Stairs, playing dogs, she takes it all in her stride and with a waggy tail! What an inspiration this gorgeous girl is, a miracle, an example of how amazing the Podenco breed is!

Cheap accommodation in Spain for Xmas - stay in a perrera

'Four podenco pups handed into a perrera this morning (1/12/2015), 8 weeks old. This is no place for them to be, it's cold and they are vulnerable to disease. We ca'nt leave them there, they will not survive. So they will be with us in a couple of days. For the moment they have been removed and are in a foster home so they are safe.
