Every day there are appeals to help save young podencos in the Spanish perreras. It's heartbreaking. Many of them could be saved if there was room in the shelters for them, but the podencos in shelters need homes. Bev Farmer, Podenco Friends, now has over 40 podencos in her care, waiting for forever homes. Earlier in the year a podenco bitch and her 9 puppies was rescued from a drain in Valencia and arrived at Podenco Friends. 6 of the puppies are reserved but 3 still need their forever homes.
