This is the tale of a little podenco puppy called Julio, because he was found injured by the roadside in Seville in July 2013, saved by Arca Sevilla.
The story of Julio is like many other hunting dogs. When not used for hunting, are not responsive to the expectations of the hunter, they are abandoned to their fate. And their fate is often very poor. So Julio, a young podenquito, just a puppy, probably not starting out as a hunter like his owner wanted, he was alone and abandoned. Looking for life as he could, through fear, hunger and thirst, more thin, more damaged, more suspicious of all ... one day, do not know when or how but he suffered an accident and his front leg was seriously damaged. Then came the pain and infection. In these conditions her would soon have died, anonymously, like many others before him.
Luckily Julio was been rescued, received veterinary care which probably saved your life though not his front leg. He was also very skeletal. Now he will have an opportunity to experience another life, a dignified life where he will be respected and loved. There is still a long and painful road but that is our goal and our only motivation.
ARCA works through an animal kennels where they rent cages and runs. This is a very high cost to them because there are many who knock on our doors and we can not take them all at once.
The disadvantage of this type of operation is limited in its ability to accept new cases. However, we have chosen this option for the quality of life that this implies for our animals. The facilities, the daily care and professional, hygienic conditions of the center. All this is possible for them, thanks to the economic effort from ARCA are doing. So we need your help to keep doing this work.
This mode of operation allows us to make adoptions with 100% guarantee, since the animals live in a very caring environment. Yes, they lack the fundamental, the love of a family. That's all our efforts, providing the family that to this day have not, and in many cases have never had.
Julio has not been able to keep his leg. The wound did not improve, there was no sensitivity, the leg was completely useless and there was a danger of septicaemia developing. So with veterinary advice finally the leg has been amputated. Now, Julio is recovering at a temporary shelter, has overcome all his fears, is very affectionate and just asks for pampering. It is wonderful to see how he has adapted to the new situation of having only three legs, running and playing smoothly and it is impressive to see him enjoy life free of fear to feel safe and secure.
Julio is 7 months old, a very special dog, has suffered a lot and now we are looking for a family to look after him and love him forever. Contact Arca Sevilla
