Toro de la Vega - help save Vulcano before 19th September

Cheap accommodation on Lanzarote -

This young podenco is Orlando, thin and terrified in the perrera on Lanzarote, due to be killed next week. I've asked SARA Protectora if they can save him and there are appeals on facebook too. Fingers crossed.

There have also been a few podenco puppies in the killing station in Valencia, Mairena (Seville) and Almeria. In the past few months more people have finally realised what I and Podencoworld (Holland) have been saying for years - that the podencos need help just as the galgos do. Facebook is an excellent medium for sharing the appeals to save the podencos and I'm pleased to report that, beside Pedro the injured podenco, several puppies have also been saved from death through appeals on facebook. BUT they all need forever homes, which can take longer.

Latest news on the Valencia podencos

Do you remember the recent report about 48 podencos and some galgos chained up in a 15m sq. but? Here is the latest report - it looks like Seprona, Guardia Civil, might be taking action against him for cruelty. Fingers crossed.

4th Fun Dog Show at St Pardoux, Sunday 8th September 2013

Here are some of the pix from my 4th Fun Dog Show fundraiser held on 8th September 2013. You'll see pix of Most Handsome Male, Best Veteran, Best Crossbreed, Best Brace, Adult and Junior Handler, and all the first placed winners forward for Best in Show. Thank you to my lovely French judge Mireille Poupard, President of Agility Club de Terves and my great steward Rachel Moon - there's no one better at getting everyone in the right place at the right time! I have a wonderful team of volunteers helping me, including MOH David. Without their support, the event would not happen - proceeds go to a couple of small refuges in Spain.

Mogan, Gran Canaria, Mairena, Sevilla - podenco puppies in perreras!

And more podenco puppies. Janis and Luke are in the municipal perrera in Mogan, Gran Canaria. As regular readers will know, the main hope for adoption for podencos on the Islands is in mainland Europe. At the moment the contact for these two babies is the perrera. However, the main animal rescue association on Gran Canaria is TARA and it could be they would help if someone wanted to get the puppies out for adoption. Naturally there would be fees to pay, including flights from the Island.
