I only read this story today, no one contacted me with the appeal. I might have been able to help - put people in touch with each other where others - it's what I do 'behind the scenes' at Podenco Post and Galgo News. So many people tried to help when those who were asked first and should have helped DID NOTHING! So sad. She could have been saved....
This was the original appeal.
URGENT; a trap is sought in BENISSA (ALICANTE) to rescue a wounded and frightened/scary gauge/hound. Just need a House of welcome/residence experience with frightened dogs in the same area. ALL costs run to S2S Belgium account but need local help!
Update; I wish to thank everybody who shared my post and the people that offered to help, especially the charity Akira Dog Sanctuary, the people who got us to find a trap cage, Hilde D'Heldt and her husband, Ivy Oostrum, who was the one letting us know about the dog in need of help and Max Meertens, the kind man on whose land the dog was located. He asked for help for several weeks in the community, at the police station, veterinaries, but no one did anything!
We asked help in local shelters too, just got no for an answer. Sadly, by the time I got notice about this poor dog and managed to arrange help thanks to the people above, it was too late...When the help arrived, she was found dead The podenco girl must have been to weak to hang on for another day. The name "Cometa" was given to her and she honorably got a grave now on the estate where she died.
From Beryl I wish bad luck on all those mentioned above who were originally asked to help and who turned away from helping, may they suffer nightmares and feel guilty.
Oh I am so sorry, poor girl. Why would no one help her? This is just awful. I am thinking about her and how scared she must have been.
