This is the lovely Luna; she's with Macu in Seville. She's about 2 years old, medium sized Podenca Andaluz, was rescued a year ago with a rope round her neck, was fearful of everything. She's now ready for adoption; wormed, vaccinated and sterilized; she's fine with cats, other dogs and people. She is loving and obedient and just wants someone to love her. Macu works tirelessly saving galgos and podencos from a gypsy camp. In order to carry on, she needs her rescued dogs to be adopted. If you are interested, please contact Macu, or Carmina - who speaks English.
Two more yound podencos on death row in Valencia. I simply fail - after 6 years - to understand the Spanish mindset of disposing of digs to a killing station if you don't want them. These two are young....heartbreaking. I'd adopt them all, but I can't afford it...oh to win the lottery!
This big guy (brown) is a male, very good and kind. He is about 3 years old and larger in size. He is so depressed he barely gets up, looks at you, just makes a ball on the floor, very sorry because it seems like he knows that it is difficult to get out. PLEASE HELP.
The white hound, Ibizan hound is beautiful. Very tall and beautiful. She holds her tail between her legs, but still smells your approaching hand. She is a young lady, like most hounds, we believe that she is less than one and a half (roughly) year. Beautiful, much more than it appears in photos.
Podencos in Valencia killing station, please is there an association which can save them?
Two podencos - the little podenca puppy (the taller brown) is still inside but no one asks for her. She is loving and very curious, super funny with hazel eyes, if you look you see the pain that she feels.
The petite podenquita tan, is female, six years old, the owner does not want it, too old to hunt. She is a bit timid, but she's a lovely dog, loving and kind. Hopefully someone will notice her.
(Pic below) The Galgo has left but the smooth Ibizan is still there. She is young, super affectionate, gentle and playful, about 8 months old.
I have to admit to being somewhat upset. Not for myself, I hasten to add, but on behalf of my friends in Spain and elsewhere in Europe. I'm talking about the amazing animal rescue volunteers, rehomers, fosterers - everyone involved in helping abandoned and injured animals in Spain. Regular readers will know how often I praise these people - they work tirelessly against terrible odds, risking their health, their relationships, threats to themselves, their families, their homes. I've visited them in Spain over the past few years and seen what they do, every day, every week, every year - no letup. Read on
