These two adorable podencos puppies were thrown over the fence of the APASA dog pound. Jacky Hazeleger, their foster mom, tells the story.
'Poor Pride and Prejudice! These 2 lovely podenco puppies were thrown over the fence of our dog pound in the night. Thank God that they ended up in a very good pack. If they have been thrown into a different pack, they might have been killed.
Because they were so full of ticks, fleas and worms, we decided to take them to a fosterhome to regain their strength. Both puppies have not been in contact with humans before and it took a while for them to trust us. However they soon followed the example of the other 10 dogs in the house and learned quickly.
Now they are strong and healthy and the fosterhome needs the place for new emergency cases. So they will have to go back to the dog pound. Even though the APASA dog pound is a very nice place, it is bad news for Pride and Prejudice. They will grow up soon and then be just 2 of the other 70 podencos. No chance of being adopted and a life behind bars is all that awaits them.
You already guess. I am the fostermum of these little creatures and my heart hurts. Hopefully I can still find a nice home for them soon, because there is nothing worse for a podenco than being in a small kennel all day.
Pride and Prejudice are both males, about 10 weeks old now and healthy and happy dogs. Prejudice (whats in a name) is a bit more shy than Pride. But in the right home, this will work out just fine!
