Urgent help needed for podenco Mom and pups

Urgent plea for help for a podenco family - waiting to hear whereabouts in Spain they are. Here's the story.

'A Dutch family living in Spain found a mother-dog (podenco)with 8 puppies in their garden. Now we are seeking refuge for this sweet dog-family. The offioial dog shelter wants the dogs, but only to put pts. We are seeking foster-parents for the dogs in Belgium and the Netherlands. We think we will succeed but it will cost time. So we desperately We need temporary shelter for the dogs.'

Another Podenco puppy abandoned in Seville - needing his guardian angel

And here's another podenco pup, found abandoned in a swamp! carmina says 'Donut is a little puppy Podenco (6-8 months old) rescued wandering around a swamp in Seville. His condition was critical, he was emaciated, malnourished. Right now is recovering in a kennel, But his godmother can not afford to pay the kennel fees much longer. It is very necessary to find accommodation or adoption for him.'

And another in Seville - a 4 months old podenco puppy left in the street, wandering lost. I won't print the rest of the message from Macu, because she's really let rip at the people who do this - leave a little puppy to fend for itself on the street.

Macu is asking for an association to come forward urgently and take the little podenco so that he can be fostered and adopted and spend the rest of his life loved.

Seville again - more dogs in shacks - anyone room?

News from Macu, in Seville. 'Look at this little old girl - about 12 years old! She's with another 15 dogs living in a shack, waiting to be moved to a kennels. It would be marvellous if she could spend her last few years in comfort. She weights less than 10k, is very gentle. Is there anyone who could take her, if I get her out? I've already got 16 in a kennels which I am paying for? What I need is an association which could take her and get her adopted'.

Tripod Podenca Ana - racing on the beach - anyone help her pup chloe?

Remember Ana, rescued in Ana, Spain, in November 2012. Here's a wonderful video showing that a tripo does not need to be handicapped by a leg missing!

Some time back Ana came to us from Valencia, another down and out podenca tossed out, no longer needed. No long er required and so, left to her devices she roamed the lands. She fed herself and did the best she could. At some point either before tossed out, or after, she succumbed to a terrible break in a hind leg, an infected bone which reinfected, and reinfected.

Ibizan Hound Rescue - podencos from a Bullas Babe in the UK for adoption

More news about the Bullas Babes, the podencos taken in by Little Pod Foundation, who had been rescued in January 2012 along with tens of galgos in a compound in Bullas, Murcia. The owner used the dogs for breeding to sell to the Spanish hunters. These podenco puppies are from a Bullas podenca, now safe with Ibizan Hound Rescue in the UK and looking for forever homes. Urgent forever homes needed for two podenco puppies with APASA

These two adorable podencos puppies were thrown over the fence of the APASA dog pound. Jacky Hazeleger, their foster mom, tells the story.

'Poor Pride and Prejudice! These 2 lovely podenco puppies were thrown over the fence of our dog pound in the night. Thank God that they ended up in a very good pack. If they have been thrown into a different pack, they might have been killed.

SOS Galgos seeks help from Europe in ending the plight of Spanish galgos

On 9th June SOS Galgos attended the first international demonstration in defence of Spanish galgos in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The protest condemned the cruelty suffered by galgos at the end of the hunting season. The demonstration was supported by Euro MP, Michèle Striffler. Protests echoing these demands took place in Madrid and Barcelona the following day. (Anna Clements & Jerome Guillot)
